When they blow up worldwide we’re gonna be so proud to say we stayed with The Infants for two weeks in Australia. Listen to their recent EP below; new wave post-punk or whatever you want to call it, it’s freaking groovy.

2~21~15

We got a taste of Melbourne’s famed live-music scene at White Night; the highlight being No Zu, a local band who’s infectious dance beats had the entire crowd up on their feet – at 5am.

We #twoladies have been jammin’ out to Fat Freddy’s Drop out here in the New Zealand countryside.  Check them out here at the Sydney Opera house, not only killin’ it live but this album is a MUST listen!

New Zealand’s got soul, y’all. Here’s “Wandering Eye” by the Wellington based reggae group Fat Freddy’s Drop. The music video features some of that singular Kiwi facial hair…

12~15~14

Our good buddies Bare Handed Bear Handlers are a New Orleans based comedy duo that dabbles in anything from sick beats and dope music videos to their debut web series Jingle Boyz that drops next month.  Here’s their newest release, bustin’ some holiday ham right up in yo ass!

12~13~14

Sweet Crude are incredible live – the energy they brought to this tune on stage was infectious.

Abrasive and provocative, Boyfriend is one badass lady who’s definitely not afraid of offending her audience. NSFW.

11~11~14

We were just introduced to St Paul and the Broken Bones by Miles Felix, our favorite musical virtuoso and DJ extraordinaire. Once you’ve been hooked by the video below, you should check them out on YouTube to hear some great covers of Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, etc. You’ve never heard white boys with more soul.

11~3~14

It’s only our first week in NOLA and already we’ve heard some incredible live music. Here’s a sampling of some of the amazing bands and DJs we saw this weekend.

The Revivalists:

Rebirth Brass Band:

And the incomparable Outkast, wrapping up their reunion tour:

10~21~14

Every Monday night at 11pm, the Reverend Vince Anderson takes the crowd at Union Pool to church. He and his Love Choir play “dirty gospel” for hours; you shouldn’t miss it if you’re in NYC.

10~2~14

Go check out Every Flavor Weather Machine on Soundcloud! We dare you not to dance to this one:

9~30~14

After dinner in Shelter Island we got a little sappy…it was the Hurricanes, guys, we swear. Things devolved into an R. Kelly singalong. If you don’t love this next track then it’s probably time for you to reevaluate your sense of self-worth. We believe in you!

9~9~14

Last night we went to an amazing show at Rockwood Music Hall, on Houston and Allen in NYC. This is Tish, a rapper/singer from the Bronx, who sounds like a cross between Lauren Hill and Missy Elliott and was tearing up the stage.

If you don’t already know this about us, you will soon discover….that there is one thing in this world we love very much. And that thing is Disco.

In honor of the beautiful city we’ll be leaving for a while, here’s a classic tune to brighten up your Thursday. NYC, we love you – you’re no tramp, but you’re no lady neither.
